Mamba Day – The Greatness Left By The Mamba

It’s August the 24th today and the true basketball faithful should know what this day is marked as; 8/24. It’s not just any day for a basketballer, no! This is a day to drop everything and spend a minute or two to remember the greatness of the Black Mamba, Kobe Bean Bryant because it is Mamba Day.

This year, the man turns the big 40 and although this is regarded as the beginning of being old, we still can’t shake the feeling of Kobe’s memorable fadeaway shots, his immense work rate and ethic and mostly his clutch-ness. Kobe was the complete player and the closest player to the GOAT Michael Jordan. Yes this is a very arguable statement and there are more great players to mention but Kobe was in a league of greatness that not all those greats could get to.

Regardless of who you think is greater than Kobe, he is still and should be considered a great of the game of basketball. Never mind the five championships he won, never mind the four All Star Game MVPs he’s racked up and never mind the one time he was named the Association’s Most Valuable Player, all of that is just little decoration to Kobe’s CV. See, Kobe didn’t just play the game but he also analysed it, examined it and at most times, outsmart the whole game! Truth be told, Kobe Bryant has to be considered one of the smartest players to ever play basketball, not just in the NBA but in the whole world. Kobe never needed to make flashy moves or ridiculous dunks, all he had to do was to get a hold of the ball and you would be witnessing a form of art that only a handful of players can replicate.

The Mamba was many things but amazing has to be one of them. And by you reading this, you have to agree. And you have to consider the fact that Kobe Bryant is a Top 3 greatest Laker alongside Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul Jabaar(sorry Shaq, you Top 4 in our Laker list). With that being said, it will take a lot for the new Laker LeBron James to win yhe hearts of the much Kobe adored Laker fans, but that’s something that will be discussed later on, for now let’s all bask in the greatness that is Kobe Bean Bryant.

Rumor has it that he will make his return this season to play alongside LeBron James but honestly, we don’t see that happening. And besides what more does Kobe need to accomplish in his already alustrous career.
