Every month, we select one basketball player to take the spotlight to being our MVP OF THE MONTH, where we cover this player and highlight the highs of the selected player. Sort of like a cover star except here, the player is the MVP for the month. And this month who better than to select a player that has MVP experience, a monster on the court and an explosive player on the point guard position. The 2016-17 NBA Most Valuable Player, Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder. We will be covering him all month long. Why not?

The excited college basketball is drawing to an end, as the talented young players will be making their case for College Supremacy in the Final Four. The powerhouses of Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina are all knocked out and this year’s Final Four will see the unexpected gladiators of Texas Tech, Michigan State, Auburn and Virginia pave their way to the National Championship.

OFF THE COURT

Not all basketball has to be focused on the gameplay and the players on the court, we also have to take a step off the court and check out everything happening off the court. We’ll be checking out new sneaker releases, basketball theory lessons and more of the game off the court. You’ll definitely have a joy in this one.

April is stacked month for all things especially basketball and who better to look to that will keep in the know than The Baseline. Stay tuned for more.

Basketball. Nonstop

The Zion Force

In this day and age basketball is about flair and finesse which really eliminates the desire of having power dominant players. Sure there are power dominant players but they aren’t as relevant as the old generation of Shaquille O’Neal. But try to imagine this, a player who is completely power dominant in size and yet has that flair and finesse of a guard. Still imagining? Well here’s your answer; Zion Williamson.

If you haven’t been paying attention to the world by now you’d know that there is a player who stands at 2,01 metres and weighs 129 kg and is only 18 years of age but he is out there performing like a more beefed up version of LeBron James with more strength, speed and power and yet has the ability to handle the ball, just as good as Damian Lillard and can shoot like Carmelo Anthony. If you didn’t know, now you know!

Currently, Zion plays for Duke University and is obviously one of the top prospects to take centre stage during the NCAA season. Bare in mind, Zion is only a freshman this year and he is already making sophomores and seniors of opposing teams look like regular amateurs. And although there have been pretty amazing freshmen in the past, Zion is different. He isn’t someone that is just simply playing like a Kyrie Irving or a Ben Simmons. This kid is legit dominating opponents and he is doing this with no remorse. Pretty scary right?

And although we are still in the starting phases of the NCAA season, it is already written on the wall who is taking the NCAA title, that being Duke who will be pretty reliant on Zion’s sense of dominance and power that he displays on the court.

In case you didn’t know, many critics are in awe of the recent performances of Zion Williamson and have aligned him to being just as special as what LeBron James was in his senior year in high school. So there is a pretty huge hype around this monster and quite frankly, I’m hopping on to that Z-hype!

Take your time to check out Duke’s highlights and the kid you’ll be looking for is the huge player that wears jersey number 1 and it’s no doubt you will take notice of the sheer dominating force that is Zion Williamson.

Don’t sleep on this dude…
