Ballin’ & Examin’

It’s June and June holds a lot for a basketball player especially a young basketball player; NBA Finals, Regional Playoffs, NBA Awards and tournaments. Yet every young baller faces the issue that prevents them from heading to a basketball court for practice; Exams.

Now before tempers are raised and many ballers abandon their books, please be aware that The Baseline wishes every single student the best of luck in their exams and that every young baller should be a LeBron James or Stephen Curry academically. And that books are just as important as a clutch shot in a game.

Now onwards to this topic, we’ll be giving you a few tips to keep balling and to keep the good marks flowing in the exam venue.

Stay Fit and Active

As a basketball player, you should know the importance of fitness, ON AND OFF THE COURT and that your fitness determines your form on the court. But fitness doesn’t have to be maintained on the court only but it can be maintained in the gym, around your block and in your room. How? By simply sticking to the fitness drills you do on the court; pushups, situps, shuffles etc. Set yourself a reasonable time and sets to keep your blood pumping and to maintain that fitness you worked hard for all year long. There’s no greater pain then having to start all over again.

Recovery

Now every young ballers excuse to not going to books or doing anything beneficial is the typical, “I was tired from fitness”. Yes, fitness is tiring but you can recover in no time by simply taking a cold bath or a cold shower. This allows your muscle to relax and to be at ease which will allow your stamina to come back and for your energy to be back on top just as it was when you began your fitness. After this is done, take a very light snack such as a chocolate bar (most preferably an energy bar) or a fruit. This should get you completely ready to take on the next task.

Study

There are tons and tons of methods to study and we can’t really give you the best ways to study, that’s all on you. However the best way to stay studying is through having an active mind. Your fitness and recovery keeps your mind in its’ active form and with that, your ability to take in and store information is at its highest. Which should help you in no doubt for your exams.

Practice

Exams often restrict and limit time for practice. But a good 2 hours of practice won’t hurt your progress of being a prospect player and of passing your exams with flying colours. So when should you practice? After an exam. It’s completely up to you if you wish to practice on days you’re not writing but always keep in mind that LeBron James didn’t get to the top without practicing…just saying.

Want to know another tip? Repeat. Follow all these steps and repeat them at least every two days, to give yourself some time to rest your body and to keep yourself studying.

Good luck once again to all of you writing your exams. Be sure to keep your grades on top because scouts are lurking for the young ballers who do well ON AND OFF THE COURT.
